Does your pup ever come curl up next to you when you've been having a particularly bad day? Aspen is normally very obnoxious in the mornings (who am I kidding, most of the time...:D) but sometimes when my anxiety is high, I am stressed, or just don't feel well, he can read my mood and calms himself for me. I have 3 weeks of school left before finals and everything has left me drained, stressed, and anxious. But Aspen somehow knows all of this and is laying snuggled up next to me while I try to study. Even if he can be a source of my stress, he can turn it around and calm me down. Its crazy how well our dogs can read us and help us, even if they are not necessarily trained to do so.

Basically, in answer to the question in your first sentence, YES.

All my dogs have been like this, though some more than others. Our most sensitive was black lab BJ who was also epileptic and would come to us for comfort as he started to fit. I've always thought, he was repaying that help when I was in a bad place.

You are lucky that Aspen is so sensitive to your feelings and emotional state. I think that shows a close bond.

Good luck with your finals, whatever the outcome, you have Aspen there to comfort or - hopefully - celebrate :)

@FayRose A close bond is definitely something Aspen and I had to work towards. Now I can proudly say he is a mama's boy :) Thank you for the good luck wishes!

Hattie & Charlie definitely know when I'm not feeling well or just a bit down. There is no therapy like a dog, just love em! xx :heart:

Maxx is too young yet but our first lab Benson was totally tuned into our emotions. It's the best thing ever.

Good luck with your exams....hideous things they are :(

When I was about 10 I went on holiday with my friends. I got terribly homesick, uncontrollable crying etc, and the family Jack Russel (also called Sophie) would come and sit next to me and lick my face for comfort. Xena's never been that intuitive with me yet!

Harley is very sensitive to my mood and also my pain levels. She seems to know if I’m struggling mentally or physically. They are amazing creatures.

Come to think of it she has comforted Dawn when she's been distressed, but only the once!
