My colliex shepherd is 12 and for the last few months has suddenly AGED.. slower and disinterested on walks, is eating like he’s starving (to the point where he’s stealing food for the first time in his life) and is struggling with his joints. I spent a few days watching him sadly convinced that the end was nigh...

Took him to the vets and did the obligatory checks and blood tests... results came back and we had a 7kg weight gain in 6 months  and he’s got an extremely low functioning thyroid and his antibodies (attacking the thyroid) were through the roof... so we started him on medication.

OMG! He’s like a puppy again! It’s amazing! We are back to pawing at the door for a walk... fetching his ball for a quick game.. eating his dinner with manners again! It’s just so lovely to have him back! Even his muscle pain has gone!

    Modern medicine is awesome :D

    Brilliant!

My lovely Boogie (who I name myself after) had it starting at the same age. He lived to a happy, healthy 19 - very nearly 20 years old.
