Diggy will be 4 months old on Monday. He's sweet, precious, but he still pees constantly. If he isn't in his crate or asleep, he needs to go about every 15-20 minutes, sometimes less. When he has a good drink of water, I make sure to let him out every 15 minutes, sometimes he makes it, sometimes he doesn't. Is this normal???

Diggy is our 3rd lab puppy and I feel like I went into this with realistic expectations. He can make it 3+ hours in his crate during the day. He can make it 9ish hours overnight. But when he is out of the crate he is a mess. He has his accidents on his way to the door, so I know he knows what he is SUPPOSED to do. He has been treated twice for an infection and we are waiting for the results of his recheck. Provided his bladder infection is gone, what the heck could be going on? Or is this still normal? I'm dying here!

I give him a treat and tons of praise when he goes outside. If I catch him in the act inside I tell him no and whisk him outside. I am at a loss as to how I can housebreak this boy!

Crikey, that is a lot of pee. 15-20 mins at 4 months doesn't sound normal to me, especially with what I've read on here, so it's good that you're getting him checked again. Has the vet done an ultrasound? Could he perhaps have a smaller than usual bladder, or even a blockage?

You definitely don't need to tell him "no" when you catch him indoors - just immediately whisk him outside and then lots of praise and treats (which you're already doing!).

Do let us know what the vet says, I totally understand how frustrated you must be feeling.

Poor pup - no, that doesn't sound normal. I hope your vet can give you some answers and help.

It does rather sound like he's still suffering with a UTI. Hope you get some answers and solutions from your vet.

I would have him checked, but my female lab didn't stop having accidents in the house until she was over 6 months old. At 4 months we were setting timers to take her outside literally every 20 minutes at one point. So if the vet checks out he is probably just like my Holly and needs time. She will be 7 months old next week and has gone almost a month without an accident. It just took FOREVER.

Ash wasn't the easiest either, he was having regular wee accidents right up till around 6-7 months. The poo side was even worse with occasional indoor accidents until 12mths.

I think every pup is different and just like human children some just 'get it' quicker than others. I would however check for a UTI just in case.

Thanks everyone! His UTI is all cleared up and he does seem to be improving a tiny, tiny bit. Just a bit of a late bloomer, I guess!

No more UTI and small improvements are great news!
