I’d keep a close eye on him and go to the vets at any sign of lethargy, vomiting or diarrhoea. Maybe phone the Vet?

It is on the list of toxic plants but says this about normal garlic -

‘ Onions and garlic contain the toxic ingredient Thiosulphate. But onions are more of a danger. Many dog biscuits contain *small* amounts of garlic – garlic contains less of this toxin so huge amounts would need to be consumed to be toxic. And, by the way, this poison builds up the system – it can be toxic in one large dose – or with repeated consumption of small amounts.”

How much did he eat? It is poisonous for them. I think I'd double check with the vet. We have a clump in the garden, but Coco ignores it.

I don’t really know how much he ate o_O

I didn’t know what it was and he eats grass and stuff all the time and it was my friend who said that’s wild garlic so he shouldn’t be eating that so I put him on a lead.

Will we ever get a month where this dog doesn’t eat something he shouldn’t :(

I just rang the vets, they’re not concerns because he was eating the flowers and leaves and not the actual bulbs. I didn’t even know there was a bulb.

Think I’m going to have to do some research on plants :D

My avatar is Pongo running through beautiful wild garlic woods - this is on his daily walk just above the house. He eats lots of grass, but I have never seen him eat any garlic leaves. But even if he did, I think he would have to consume an awful lot of them to do any harm.
Incidentally, it is great to cook with....

We have loads of it too, Lilly walks through it but doesn't seem interested in eating it.

We had a thread about how to cook with it didn't we???......

I wouldn’t be worried. He’d have to consume lots and lots. And even then, his enzymes wouldn’t be able to break down the leaves - they’d come out whole.

My vet - and another I heard on the radio - said onions and garlic in small quantities are not dangerous, eg if your dog ate some tomatoe sauce cooked with onions and garlic. Interesting to read the above about it building up in the body - first I’ve read that.
