Having been following other threads about recoveries from operations and injuries it's occurred to me that Cass seems to take a rather different approach to being indisposed. Post spay she didn't once bother her wounds or IV site, only licked the incision gently the first night. She was however thoroughly miserable and out of sorts for a week. A few days ago she had a thorn in her foot, quite a nasty blackthorn as it turned out. It was still sore after I had removed it, she limped all evening. Not once did she try to get it out herself or lick or bite the area afterwards. No, she lay on the sofa gazing at me soulfully just like she did in season and post spay. Clearly, I'm expected to do something! She looks for all the world like a delicate Victorian lady reclining on the chaise long, you can just imagine the back of her paw across her brow as if to say this is just too much!
Bit slow on the uptake me She's such a funny, complicated character, so bold and outgoing and then suddenly sensitive, not just for herself, but me too.
Ah, you write a wonderful picture, I can see her exactly. Thank goodness these girl-dogs can't grasp a fan in their paws, or I'd fully expect to see Cassie fluttering a fan in front of her face and sighing theatrically
Well yes, as I wrote the post that exact picture came to mind! And she's been a bit like that today, after our busy day yesterday, "I can't possibly do more in this heat!"
