so... 6 days till munchkin arrives home! Everything is waiting for him... but I can’t quite figure out what to put in a frozen Kong?

My 11yo GS has everything from peanut butter to cheese/smeared hot dogs in his but I can’t give that to a 8 week old puppy... so what do I put in, instead?

    Any ideas?

I used kibble from her daily allowance, low fat natural yogurt and some mashed banana. I still use pretty much the same now she's a year old. I also add bits of raw carrot and apple (but no pips, not good for dogs). She continues to love all this. All the best with new little Munchkin, sleep and reserve sanity stores while you can!

Just kibble from daily eation but pup wob't be ready for frozen kongs when first home with you. He will need to gain experience with the kong first before you introduce frozen.

Pepper loves his kibble with mushed up banana or mushed up carrot in a Kong. With a tiny blob of peanut butter on the end!

He now gets extremely excited when he sees a Kong, and it takes him a good 15 minutes to get through one. We do hear some funny noises when he can’t quite get the last bit out .

Pepper had just kibble for the first week, and he now has banana or carrot with it, and he’ll be 11 weeks old tomorrow.

Do I soak it or just dry and let it fall out?

When it was kibble alone, I soaked it briefly otherwise it fell out too quickly!

Once I’d added banana or carrot I didn’t bother soaking it first.

With a new puppy, the best thing to do is just start with a few pieces of kibble popped in. Get him used to the idea the there is good stuff inside the Kong, but it's really easy to get out. It can be frustrating for a young puppy at first if you dive straight in to stuffing it with something he really has to work at. So, keep it easy and fun for him to build his enthusiasm for it and gradually increase the difficulty until you're stuffing it with soaked kibble and eventually freezing it.
My "go-to" with kongs is kibble soaked and mixed with tuna or sardines. I also do raw mince, or cook up a mince and vegetable mixture and use that.

I soak their kibble and put a little, unfrozen, in the Kong until they get used to it. Once they are five months old I soak the kibble in a cup, pour away the water, then put a little peanut butter or yogurt as a little ‘plug’, then freeze.

I definitely echo what everyone else has said above me. I dived straight into freezing my pup's kibble in a kong in a desperate attempt to get some peace from him in the 1st week but it was just too much too soon and he showed zero interest in it.
I took a step back and just filled the kong with kibble (unfrozen) and gave him that for a week, then worked up to partially frozen, then finally fully frozen.
Now at 14 wks he loves frozen kongs and will quite happily work away at them until they're empty :)
