My partner and I have a week booked off after the May day bank holiday. We were going to Sicily but finances have dictated we cancel the holiday & concentrate on house buying! (Very exciting)

Now we need something to do, so looking for places in the South that we can enjoy and take the dog. Not more than 90minutes away (max) from the Basingstoke/Winchester area but that we can all have a nice time if the weather is good enough.

Goes without saying it must be dog friendly. I would love a beach location but he is an "on lead" dog ( we will have a 10M extendable by this time) due to inconsistent recall and non existent recall in the presence of others wanting to play :)

    Will take onboard all ideas!

Virginia Water is a lovely place for dog walks, picnics etc.

West Wittering, near Chichester, has a lovely sandy beach. I believe part of it has no dogs in the summer months, but there is still a good stretch where you can go with your dog as well as some lovely countryside. (Haven’t been there for a good few years, but went with my last dog.)

The New Forest is great for walks and at Milford on Sea you can take your dog on the beach all year (pebbles). There is also a great walk through a nature reserve, open to dogs. I stayed there last autumn and enjoyed it very much - pretty little town, nice pubs, and very dog-friendly.

So We are going to walk The Vyne NT today and go to West wittering (the beach's we are allowed on) later this week. I'm very excited to take my boy to the seaside!

It' a week of adventures for him. Today he is meeting grandparents 2 little dogs at their house & my sister' 9month old nutcase of a alsation x retriever .

We've been so lucky with the weather! May even try him in a dog friendly pub!

This morning we went for a walk on Hundred Acres Wood, Forest of Bere near Wickham. Not quite a full day out, but a lovely place for an hour/ hour and a half dog walk.

    We managed to tick off

    • Beach (southbourne in the end) his 1st time. Was hilarious he was temporarily scared of the big wet thing moving towards him!
    • Dog walking in the woods with new friend (My sister' Dog)
    • Pub garden (admittedly we were the only ones but he was still very good)
    • Summer fete with lots of people and distractions!
I was literally ticking off my good boy behaviour list & new experiences :D
