I have a friend who got a new lab puppy last weekend. A few days later the guy he bought her from called him and asked him if he wanted a second one. Apparently the second one had been dropped by one of his children and he stated the puppy couldn't walk right. He said they took it to the vet and the vet coulnd't find anything wrong with it. (I question this vet...) My friend took it thinking he could work with it but doesn't know where to start. He said the puppy doesn't act like it's in pain, it just can't seem to get the leg (left hind leg) to work, he just drags it. Therefore he's (the puppy) is having difficulty getting up and around, even to go potty. Any ideas what he can/should do? He stated he will not put it down, so that's not a worry. He wanted a hunting dog, but said he can't keep it if it won't be able to walk right. He'd give it to someone who would take care of it.

There are a few things that comes to my mind.
    1. How old is this pup?
    2. Is it a reputable breeder?
    3. Did breeder go to the vet with it?
    4. Are X-rays been made?

I would take it to the vet ASAP! Let his own vet examine it!

What a horrible story. Your friend needs to get this puppy to a vet.

    Yes.
As @Aitch and @Anne123 say - Vet. And ASAP.
No humming and hawing, that pup needs a decent veterinary assessment.

Yup, no questions here, this puppy absolutely needs to have a proper vet assessment. If a vet can’t find something wrong, they should refer. Dragging a leg is not normal and is hugely serious. Please keep us informed. Poor pup :(

I agree with everyone above regarding getting to a vet as this isn’t normal. Did the breeder give your friend X-rays? Evidence of their vet visit? It really does sound like there is something serious going on there.

Definately take it to the vet asap. It sounds as though there might be a dislocation. Dogs are very good at accommodating and masking pain. For them it is just

Sorry, something went wrong there; meant to say that for the dog it is just the new normal. Poor thing!
