That last photo of Carbon on your legs... His eyes are so wonderful and kind.

Good luck for the rest of your trip :)

Wow. That sounded exhausting. I’m sorry the walk was more bitter than sweet. On a practical note, I find the handle on the Ezydog leash perfect for protecting hands - it’s shaped like a waterski handle so won’t crush your hand, and padded with rubber.

Anyway, I think you’re a superhero. And you describe it all so entertainingly!

I must’ve missed the Miracle Miry Paulgate encounter. When you have a moment - between making up hotel rooms with your own linen (changing duvet covers - gotta be my worst!) - I’d be interested to hear the story.

Wishing you a better day today! xxx

I’m sorry the walk was a challenge - you’re super-brave taking on the trip with both of them! Although my two are steady when we’re in areas that they know, they become very excited when it’s somewhere new.

I hope today goes well and the lovely, laid-back Carbon works some magic on Paul!

Ah Emily, I'm sorry that your spin around Salamanca wasn't what you were expecting. I think most of us would encounter exactly the same thing if we were to take our dog/s around a big, bustling, smelly city!

That last photo of Carbon’s expression was priceless! Sorry the journey is proving so demanding. It sounds like you have a good home lined up for Paul so once you have him safely installed, I hope you should find life easier (and more peaceful) with just Carbon.

Oh, you set yourself up for challenges, don't you! Brave, brave woman. Hope it all looks better this morning, and that your boys cut you some slack today (come on lads, enough is enough, give her a break!)

Just love that last picture of Carbon, and I think your caption is just spot on...

You are incredibly brave! Hoping the worst is over and you all settle into travel mode. I think you have planned the trip really well in hindsight, and looking forward to reading about those breaks by the beach you have built in!:hug:

I think you are a super hero as well and cannot tell you how much I admire you. It must be very difficult with Paul, imagine if it was just Carbon it would be a relative doddle. I cried with you as I could feel how you felt. Dear Carbon is a great comfort x

--DAY TWO OF BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY A MASTER-MIND TODDLER DRESSED IN A DOG SUIT--

Arrived at lovely dog-friendly hotel. Pristine, ocean view, disturbingly inexpensive, with an incredibly kind and enthusiastic young woman on reception. She shows us to our room. We talk dogs - she has a Lab, Rottie, Yorkie and a mixie thing. She absolutely fawns over Paul and Carbon. Opens the door to the room for us. Paul walks in and I'm off my guard as I'm being charmed by the young lady and the room. Wow, what a find!

Then I see Paul take aim at the throw rug. Noooooo!!! He's still wearing his travel harness, so I yank him off the rug and look at the young woman in absolute mortification. She has that look that says, "I'm completely horrified but way too professional to let it show". '''

And then Paul wees and wees and wees and wees. It's one of those eternity wees where you think, "Where did you store all that?"

I say, "Um, I'm really sorry - I have everything to clean up, don't worry".

She says, "No, no, no, I'll get everything to clean it up."

At which point I'm MORE mortified.

She runs off down the hall to get cleaning supplies and I scramble to get up the worst of it while she's gone. Then I realise. Paul has wee-ed directly onto my shoe. My very-not-waterproof mesh running shoe. The wee is squishing through my toes.

When the young woman returns with a mop, I've gotten the worst of it up already and have plastered an apologetic smile on my face and pull out my best Spanish to apologise again. She keeps her incredible friendliness up, wishes me a good stay and leaves.

The lake of wee in addition to what is now sopping my shoe is a testament to the fact that Paul hasn't had a wee since last night at 11. This is despite an hour long walk this morning in Salamanca and 2 hours at the beach - which we had just come from.

He simply doesn't want to wee or poo anywhere public. I'm dumbfounded.

And by the way, immediately after his dinner he had a nice poo on the floor next to the bed. I didn't even try to fight it. I just picked up my cleaning kit and got to it.

Otherwise, it was actually a better day. I'll try to post some photos after our after-dinner walk - for Carbon's sake only of course, as Paul is now happily emptied out.

Maybe Paul would pee and poo on some nappy pads outside? Or a carpet square sample?
