During our walk this morning Hattie found a whole deer leg bone, she always manages to find something rotten to eat Now I was heading down a track that takes me back into our village and there was no way I wanted to walk Hattie with said deer leg hanging out of hour mouth. I threw a dried fish skin cube a few meters away, she dropped the leg and ran to get the treat, meanwhile I got a poo bag to pick up the leg and lobbed it way into a field so that she didn't pick it up next time I do that walk. Not a fair exchange in my view but Hattie was chuffed So glad I worked on 'exchanging' xx
She's such a lady! Squidge (most definitely NOT a lady!) would have blasted through the fence like the hippo she is and fetched it back
Ah she's not a lady all the time, I'm am fully expecting a fence jump to retrieve the leg another day. She NEVER forgets! x
Can just imagine the looks you would have had with Hattie walking through the village with a deer leg hanging out of her mouth
I would’ve taken it home! Snowie has found various bones on our walks. Some are too big to gobble up and then he wants to lie down for a good gnaw. Well, I’m not prepared to wait around! He’s very good at giving up anything and he’s learned that if I put it in a poo bag (plain plastic, not scented!), he’ll get it at home after the walk. If I were to throw it somewhere, well, he’d be out there and searching for it and refusing to come with me. So I carry the bone and he happpily continues his merry walk without a care for the bone until we get home. He once found half a sheep’s skull with teeth! Yes, I carried it home!
We have bleached skulls all over our land. I think they are deer and, yes, often have teeth. Squidge is forever finding them! The worst was the pretty fresh head of a young wild boar that I had to carry home so I could dispose of it... ick.
As long as it's not human as far as Im concerned it's all good (it has happened round here). I like skulls bones feathers and teeth myself. I would have bought the bone home and if I didn't want it dispose if it in case my dogs went back for a lick
Well done Hattie & Helen. Sheep's skull with teeth? I'd bring it home for me. I have one on my coffee table. Along with a couple of rabbit skulls..
There were eventually bits of teeth and jaw all over the lawn. I think someone had brought it to the beach for their picnic - it wasn’t an old bleached skull, but it had been picked clean. Snowie munched as much as he considered worth his while and left the rest.
