Any sign of a Carrefour yet? I can't bear the thought of you going all that way on Diet Coke and crisps! I'm sure Paul and Carbon are faring much better...! ;)

Controversial? We don't have Waitrose or Aldi here, but our local supermarket, Shoprite, stocks Waitrose products alongside Iceland products - and both are jolly good! I'm all for variety. Wish we had an Aldi though.....

Aldi is the greatest! I did a shop in Morrisons once and only got “a few buts” which was basically about 2 bags. Came to about £70

Could’ve got 4 bags and a George foreman in Aldi for that :D

Always pop in when I'm across. I LOVE their chocolate! At least we can get the Special Buys and, more importantly, their wine delivered here.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm Aldi through and through. I do 95% of my shopping at the one near us.
However the town where I work is quite snobbish and I think there will be some perfectly manicured eyebrows raised :D

I love all the great messages here and will reply but just wanted to address this one first:

Sunday is Paul's adoption day - we have a meeting with his new family mid morning and then (hopefully) will be delivering him to his new home early evening.

@Boogie , is there any chance of coming out to Kate's tomorrow or Sunday instead? Carbon and I will be around next weekend for a Forum walk (maybe Beacon View?), but then I know you won't be here, Mags. You can reach me on my UK phone if easier to sort it out in a chat. :)

I can die happy. Paul just had his very first wee outside our hotel room during our evening 'last round' walk. I was just about hopping up and down with joy while Paul had this look on his face that clearly said, "Geez, lady, calm down...it's just a wee, OK?"

I know, Paul, but don't harsh my mellow, little dude. I gotta celebrate. :happyfeet::monkey::happyfeet::monkey:

Now with those happy thoughts in my head, it's off to bed as we need to be at the Eurotunnel at 6:30am. A very wee-free good night to all!

It’s Saturday!! Have you made it?! You do realize that before you get plonked in Waitrose, we are all holding our breaths until we hear about your final leg!

Oh. Just seen the time. I guess you’re still driving. Safe final travels.

Just to say a rather tired @Emily_BabbelHund has arrived all safe and sound. We have had loads of fun, although the cottage has felt a little cramped with 5 dogs!

Photos on the way we promise! Until then a little teaser.... :D

It's very late and I'm very tired, but wanted to say a big thank you to Kate, Marcus and the whole Beanwood crew for giving three weary travellers a fabulous welcome and hospitality. The intros of the dogs went very well with Bramble leading the pack by giving just the right greeting to Carbon to start things off right. Paul loves Bramble too and had dozens of happy chase sessions through the grass. He loves being off leash and the freedom of the huge spaces of Beanwood. Benson is incredibly patient (and generous) with both Paul and Carbon. At one point, he and Paul were playing just like Carbon and Paul do. Also Carbon pretty much climbed on top of Benson while Benson was on the sofa and fell asleep on top of him. If that's not excellent temperament on Benson's part, I don't know what is. Brambelina did her part by trying to teach Carbon to play with a toy. He didn't quite get it, but you couldn't fault her for trying.

As if that wasn't enough, our excitement of the day was getting held up three hours in Calais this morning because the address was missing for the vet who did the boys' rabies vaccine back at the shelter in Spain. The whole adventure involved lots of me trying to sweet talki my out of things in French, going into Calais to wait for a vet to open at 8am and generally a lot of anxiety that we weren't going to make it over today. We did, albeit three hours later than planned.

Going back to yesterday, the boys had a last beach run - three hours on an empty beach (Griz Nez) near Calais. It was a fitting end to our grand cross country adventure. I got some video and of course photos, but I'm nodding off mid-sentence here so will have to wait for another day.

Off to sleep now and the last night of getting to cuddle with Paul. It's all change tomorrow for his (hopefully) very first Gotcha Day!

Oh wow... arching up on this now. I’m exhausted reading about all of the trials and tribulations (and wee)...but you actually lived it.

The doggos are so cute all snuggled together. That tail...

Speaking of wee... is Paul behaving himself in that department at Beanwoods’? :doug:
