My dog is nearly 6 - he had been limping for a while. Upon vet checking it finally came out he must have had an impact (?) on his right shoulder which did not recover, over a time this caused calcification on the major Supraspinatus tendon which runs over the shoulder. On operating him 3 weeks ago, the vet cut this tendon loose, he removed the damaged parts of this major tendon. And he did not reattach this, he reckoned this would give the dog more pain, so has left this tendon loose within the shoulder. It is supposed to heal internally. It may still be too early, but after 3 weeks he is still limping. I have kept his exercise strictly to toilet walks only, and this will be on going for the adviced 8 weeks recovery time. I do not dare to give him longer walks, as I fear he will never heal. He never stops, he is not showing pain, he is ready to run if I let him. He is so bored.... Does anyone have any experience with this type of injury and subsequent operation. I am at a loss what to expect. He does not have ED. His biceps and shoulder bone were found intact. He is a very strong active dog, he is not overweight.
I don't have any advice but I have everything crossed for you that your boy heals quickly and is back to normal really soon
