PHEW!!! And thank you - yes, feeling less mortified and finding the funny side of it now....but oh heaven's Pongo, you do put me through it...
Since Pongo is not 8 months old, as Oban was, and whould have learned the ups and down by now I think I'd suspect your friend's new dog had marked first, as someone above also said. Another thought, if the kitchen was recently re-done I have to wonder what chemicals might be in the paint, and anything else, that could remotely smell like pee. Oban is 10 though, and I do still watch in certain places, like the Vet's.
Yes, it's possible. I also still watch Pongo at the vets and yes, he often looks like he's considering marking (but stops when I break his attention). I also wonder whether it's because he was upstairs. I know that sounds weird, but in our house he never goes upstairs. The only place he goes "upstairs" is in the garden where we have lots and lots of steps. His favourite pee-spots are all at the top of the garden. I just wonder whether in his furry brain stairs mean outside mean OK to pee....
Good thing I have a bad memory, otherwise I’d probably be permanently mortified. Just remembered Snowie, while on leash, quick as lightening lifted his leg on a big bag of (rubbish) dog biscuits at the vet. Swiftly wiped up the puddle and no one was the wiser. Made me wonder how many times that bag had been peed on.
I thought you were going to say that Pongo had chewed up some of the new kitchen, so having a pee was nothing in comparison When I had my rescued GSP, he marked in the house frequently, once neutered he stopped immediately. I think Pongo was marking and probably something to do with the Labradoodle, perhaps the he had been secretly peeing up the new kitchen
