We're busy trying to get our 9 week old black girl to toilet train on the patio which we've sectioned off from the rest of the garden. It ha a long strip of pea gravel and the inevitable bits that fall into any garden (leaves, bits of twig, etc blown in on the wind - which it has been in the SE recently). She is for ever snuffling the gravel and picking up bits. Some we do remove from her mouth but I'm sure a few get eaten. Obviously we are very conscious to look out for snails and the like. Any recommendations to stop this? Do others find this a challenge?

Hi and welcome. All pups are inquisitive and explore the world through their mouth. You may need to exchange things like twigs / stones with a treat to start with. As she gets older you can teach a ‘leave it’ which will stop this kind of thing happening.
