I doubt this is something that is trainable, but Aspen has a habit of walking and peeing. It's like he forgets hes peeing. He doesn't have a UTI or anything, it just seems to be a puppy thing. He will sniff out a perfect spot, lift his leg to pee, put his leg down, and run away but still pee a bit. Often times it happens when the neighbor's dogs come out, when he gets a whiff of a different smell, or sees an animal. Is there any way I can train him to not do this? It's really only an issue because he starts to smell strongly of pee on his legs. I have been wiping them with a wet cloth when it's really bad.

I've only ever seen the walking and peeing on my sister in law's not toilet trained dog, which I know isn't the issue for Aspen. Xena kind of does the opposite - starts to get into a squat and then thinks better of it midway. So easily distracted. She doesn't wee when she does that at least.

Axel does this all the time. It’s like he’s ready to move on to the next amazing thing to pee on that he forgets to stop. Often my poor bare toes fall victimo_O

Maisy does this, she squats, wees and instead of waiting until she's finished she starts walking off. She looks like an old man that's just got off his bike, she only does it occasionally but it makes me laugh!

Yep, we get this, too. It is just that Caspar lacks the patience to finish before following the next smell. It isn't just limited to wees either...

Quinn's BFF, a 3 year old female lab does this with almost every pee...she is fully standing and walking and still peeing. It's almost like she forgets she's peeing and already moving on to the next sniff/play or whatever. Her pees are also quite big/long compared to Quinn's quick dribbles. She's done it since a puppy.
