    Hi all,
I’ve now had my 13 week old puppy for 4 weeks. She’s been sleeping with me in my bed but now I’m starting to regret this decision. I’m thinking it’s going to be a nightmare trying to crate her at night, as I’m struggling with crate training during the day even. She has a dog bed that she likes in the living room. I’m thinking about putting it next to my bed to see if she’ll sleep there. Bad idea?

I think that sounds fine. It’s what I’ve done with each of my puppies (never used a crate). After a few weeks or couple of months ( when they are confident at being alone for a while during the day) I moved the bed to the living room at night and they sleep there.
I allow my current dog, Molly, to choose where she sleeps at night. During hot weather she stays downstairs where it’s cooler but when it’s not so hot she comes up and sleeps in her own bed at the foot of mine.

Pepper sleeps in his bed next to ours, he’s now 19 weeks. He hates his crate with a passion and whilst we’d like to have crate trained him, the current arrangement works well for us and him.

We intended to crate train Ash when he first arrived. It didn't work. He much prefered to be sharing our other Lab's bed.

This is my first time crate training. Koda, 12 weeks likes her crate and will go in it during day if she wants to. She is still waking too early 5 then 6 and this morning she went for a wee at 5 but didn't want to at 6 then got on top of my bed sleeping until 6.45. I feel I should put her back in her crate then now as got into a bad habit with this, what do others think?

Hi and welcome, sounds like you are doing great.
Puppies do tend to wake early it doesn’t last. Just feels like it!
Once more exercise can be started you will notice a difference.
Put back in crate and if you can do it once you can do it again

Thanks for this. Koda went to bed earlier last night probably because it has been so hot so she woke about 2 for a wee then 5 then at 6 went for a wee so I took her with me but her biting was so annoying and I couldn't distract so I put her back in her crate. She cried for attention but I ignored and think I went back to sleep until 8 when I opened crate and gave her breakfast. Usually give her at 7.15. I work Wed, Thursday, Fri so she is getting used to routine. My son looks after her when I work until uni in September so working out at moment. I know it will get easier and I have to be stronger with her. I am shattered though. Luckily not working today and have 2 weeks puppycation after Friday to work on sleep routine.

Your welcome not sure how much I can help I just know it’s nice to have have someone to chat with and be reassured.
It has been very hot you are right. Good for you for putting her back possibly attention seeking but you don’t really want to be playing or waking too early. I had 7am in my mind when Mason was younger now he is 11 months. He too would wake 5-6 am. I would rush to get ready and get downstairs as he was whining but after a while he stopped. It does get better. Well done you you put her back got a bit more rest. Keep trying. Am here if you need support.
Of course you are it’s natural for us humans to be up 2/3 times every night. Enjoy your puppyvacation though
