my puppy is 12 weeks and has never been in a crate is he to old for one as I need to go out shopping and things I cant just shut him in the kitchen any advise please
Start crate training now! Not before pup has to be left alone. Training starts by making the crate the best place to be, comfy and with great food entertainment (stuffed kongs) and treats. Initially pup will only be in the crate for seconds, gradually building up - even before the door is closed. Then the door is closed with pup having a kong, and then released just before tge kong is finished. The time is extended over many, many trainjng sessions to ensure a happy contented pup and reduce the risk of seperation issues.
Think of it as more of a den than a prison and it becomes so much better. Lol. Like a child and a fort.
Our Honey (14 weeks) sleeps on hers on a night 11 till 6. Sometimes she wanders off during the day and goes for a sleep in there!. It's her little den.
