A quick look at todays newspaper this morning totally ruined my day. 2 labbies had to be put down because they were poisioned. This happened in a small town just 10km away from where our dog school is. I don't know how anyone can be so cruel to do such horrible things. And I don't know what horrible things i would do to such a person if i ever get hold of one of those a..holes.
Re: Horrible news! That is so sad I'm assuming it wasn't accidental. There are often things circulating on facebook about poisoned dog food and sausages with nails in them left at dog walking areas. To be honest I am never sure whether they are true or just to get peoe going. So sad. Hug your boy extra tight ♥
Re: Horrible news! According to the newspaper article the dogs were in the garden and someone must have thrown a toxic bait over the fence. The interviewed vet thinks it was a mixture of toxic plant fertilizer and rat poison. Must have been really painful for the dogs since the article says they started to vomit blood before they were put down to avoid more suffering. Just really really sad.
Re: Horrible news! That is just so upsetting news Christoph :'( :'(. What on earth makes some people tick, I would love to do the same to them
Re: Horrible news! That's terrible. I'm totally paranoid about chemicals. I didnt walk around our big field all summer because it had carrots in and they spray carrots even before they germinate. For future info I found out from the environmental health officer or more commonly known as council rat man (my cousin works in the environment department) that a dog or cat has to eat half it's body wait in poisoned vermin for it to effect them. I asked this question because Scott ate some green cat muck at the bottom of our garden a few months ago!!!!!! . It was the most unnatural green I've ever seen and I could only think it was caused by the dye in rat poison. Thankfully all was well including the cats but you can imagine my worry.
Re: Horrible news! How absolutely despicable :'( This happened to a friend of mine. The neighbour poisoned his black Lab with baited meat :'( It's not a myth, but it's still rare....
Re: Horrible news! Christoph it's dreadful isn't it Rachael, did that person go to prison?and if not why not,it's unfathomable! We are all receiving Facebook and email messages from residents and vet clinics about individuals soaking rags with strychnine and planting them in the desert to kill desert foxes that are starting to creep into urban ,residential areas...that's us lost a huge off lead walk resource and there aren't many here as it is
Re: Horrible news! I don't think I'd recover if that happened to my dogs. It's bad enough losing them after a long, happy life but dealing with some vile person who inflicted harm on purpose is an entirely different kettle of fish. My heart goes out to the owner.
Re: Horrible news! Angela, I didn't know what happened to the neighbour. It's the kind of thing that is hard to prove to authorities. It was many years ago. That's really bad about people laying baits randomly in the desert too
