    Hello everyone!!

My beautiful pup, Luna (see profile pic), is 14 weeks and very enthusiastic to learn. She's a black lab with a white chest fleck (I'm presuming a golden lab somewhere in her gene pool) and a very relaxed and calm demeanor.
She came to us via a lady who comes into my shop regularly. After buying a house across the street she was ready for a dog, she sourced and found Luna and fell in love... Then she had the misfortune to lose her job and was so worried about Luna's welfare that she asked for help...I was more than happy to take her on and bring her up in my crazy household rather than see her go to the dog's home and maybe have to wait a long time for her forever home.

She is now amongst a crazy clan of 2 adults, 2 children (7 and 3), 3 cats and 3 rabbits. Her training regime that was started with her adopted mum has been furthered every day and we've got the basics covered (sit, down, leave, wait, off, out) as well as waiting until told to eat so that she doesn't wolf it all down and barge the feeder (as it may be one of the children in the future and she is going to be a big girl). She was already house trained for spending outside.

Since being with us we have given her a big crate for her inside space and she took to it straight away; all her toys go in with her and she will go to it if she's tired etc... A good space for her to get away from the madness of family life and it also helps keep her out of mischief!

We are currently working on lead training which is difficult at this age as this Lab seems to want to come home as soon as she has done her business!!! No matter how many times we stop on the way home, she will always try to pull me back to the house; it's a work in progress.

Today is the first time she's properly seen rain; she likes it, but not to sit on the wet grass haha...

Last night was her first walk in the dark; she seems to not like the dark so much when it's not in the house/garden.

We are blessed to live with a cricket pitch over our back fence, so during this crazy english summer she was still able to have her short walks as we could always use the field and grass as opposed to hot hot pavement. However, since it has gotten cooler we have done some lead training on the pavements and alongside the roads and she responds well to sitting and waiting at the kerbside to cross roads etc...

Random question... She has only barked twice within the few weeks she's been with us... Once at a big lean choc lab that ran out of nowhere and scared her mid-poop on a short walk and once at a bag that fell in the house and scared her. Is it normal for Lab pups to be so calm and quiet all the time? I mean.... Even a knock at the door doesn't get a peep :p I must admit, I was expecting quite the opposite!!

Anyway, I'm rambling haha.... It will be nice to find insight on any queries within this forum and I look forward to many a conversation with you all.
We're off out for a little walk now!

Hi Sammi, and welcome to the forum! Luna sounds adorable :).

Don't worry if she doesn't want to walk. Thats quite normal in such a young puppy and she doesn't need walking yet as long as she has a bit of a garden to romp about in.

Lots of fun for you ahead! Look forward to hearing your adventures :)

Welcome to you and Luna from me and my big boy Pongo in south Wales! She sounds like a gorgeous girl, and she is certainly lucky to have found you as her family. She is going to have a great life.
My lad didn't bark EVER until he was about a year old (he is four and a half now). He still rarely barks - only when (a) veryveryvery excited - and then it is a high pitched puppy bark, which sounds ridiculous coming from a huge 42kg dog; and (b) when he sees the neighbour's cat, who is the only creature in the world that he doesn't love. Then he barks so energetically he bounces up and down on the spot, about a foot in the air. Very, very funny.

    Thanks Pippa,
We only do a couple 100 yards each walk but she loves just being in the garden too and watching the cricket over the fence

Haha, Rosie, Pongo sounds like a load of fun!!!

She spent this morning running circles around me whilst I was cleaning and tidying up haha... She's so adorably fun.
