Hello all, it's been unusually hot in the UK and we've noticed it's taking it's toll on our puppy.

My wife read the idea of wetting a dish towel and laying it over Honey's belly helps take some heat away, she loves it on hot days!.

Just thought I'd pass it on.

I've heard this tip twice in the last week, now a third :) The dog gods are sending a message, should really try it out. :) We've been 28-32°C for the last week, so walks have been very early in the morning. Luckily it's cooler inside during the day.

Great idea. I did put one tea towel which I had frozen and then let melt until it was liquid but cold and then lay it over his back. Seems a much better idea to put it over his belly :)

Kiddie pools are great also. Don't get the inflatable ones though.

I had a t-shirt for my dog which I freeze (not completely frozen but enough to cool him down) and get him to wear it after going outside and playing with my beagle puppy. Lucius fits into my shirts whereas my beagle puppy had a little shirt bought for him. It works a lot but only problem I see is it melts all over the floor (not so bad if you dont mind a bit of water on the floor) and Lucius has a habit of leaning on me while wearing it so soaks me too. We do have a cooling blanket but doesnt always work for him as it takes longer to cool him down.

My two black labs are 10yrs and 11months old, have early morning walks, wet coats to wear even in the house. Also a paddling pool in the garden, with no playing in the garden ‘til evening. They are both sleeping under a ceiling fan on full power on the living room floor. Finally its good to check if I can stand on the pavements with no shoes, if not the girls can’t go on them. Hope this might help someone with an idea.

Our girl, Ruby, loves to play fetch. With high temps and humidity we have turned on the sprinkler at a low setting. She can lay on top of it to cool off and also clean off the fetch ball!

Ah it's so lovely to hear another kindred spirit! Our girls both had bandanas and coats that you wet and keeps cool for 6 hours, they have cool mats in their beds, rotating fans,a paddling pool and human slaves that get up super early to walk them before it's hot! hmmm wonder who rules this house....

we live in GCC and the temp goes up to 50. Our 3 year old beats the heat with AC on full time. Still he is uncomfortable at times , especially after his pee breaks . wonder if i can use the wet towel in an AC room too ?

If it makes him more comfortable I can’t see why you shouldn’t- and welcome to the forum :)
