Marley is coming up on 2 years and is developing an Elbow callus on one side only. My previous Labs both had these but I don't remember them getting them till they were much older. It doesn't seem to bother him at all and I never see him scratch at it, but I'm wondering if it's worth a trip to the vets? Anyone else dealing with these on their dogs at such a young age?

Woody has elbow calluses and I’ve ready that you can get cream which will soften the skin or good old Vaseline which I’m going to get next time I’m in the supermarket.

They don’t seem to bother Woody either and as he refuses to sleep on the beds and cushions we have not sure what else to do and it’s only me worrying the look a little unsightly and sore x

One of my Labs had elbow callouses from around two, but then she just loves to sleep on hard surfaces. If they look sore or cracked it's a good idea to talk to the vet as they can get infected.

Nelson has started to lose a bit of fur on his left side elbow. Must have been from too much lounging around in this warm weather :)

It isn't painful, doesn't look open/sore and doesn't seem bother him. However I would still like to use a home treatment, if someone can recommend something?

Is normal human medical grade emollient cream ok to use?

I ended up taking Marley to the vets to have his bare spot checked out. She thought it was furunculosis, similar to what he had been dealing with on his chin earlier in the year. It's currently being treated with antibiotics and and the same Malotic cream used on his acne.

the lower spot did eventually rupture open into a sore, which has cleared up now. Vet says his hair won't grow back for another month or so.
