Daisy has been an early riser from day one. Now goes to bed at 1030pm but wakes whining from 530 onwards. It was 430am a month ago and my husband got up every day, let her out for wee and poo and then they would both go back to sleep. However two weeks ago we decided to get hard to tackle this and have set an alarm for 6am that she can hear and we are downstairs ready to quietly let her out. Twice she has only barked once just before the alarm but for the last two nights, little yaps and whines from around 515/530 every 20 mins or so...…….. what could we do now as we are having a weekend away shortly and its such an inconvenience for my friend who has kindly offered to dog sit

Hi there, and welcome to the forum. :) Extending early morning wake up time is sometimes more successful if done in minutes rather than in one hit. And if she goes straight back to sleep after being let out at 4:30, that might be preferable for your house sitter than having to listen to her for an hour or so before the alarm.

I would be tempted to go back to the 4:30 routine, and start extending the time more gradually - say 15 minutes a week, to let her get used to the extended sleep time
