My new puppy is 10 weeks old today. The breeder was feeding him kibble from Hi-Standard (puppy specific). I am unable to get that brand of food locally, so the breeder recommended the Taste of the Wild brand. I went out and purchase some and realized I purchased the adult version instead. He has been transitioning from the breeder supplied to the Taste of Wild adult for 3 days now. Should I go back and get the puppy specific version? I just want to be sure he is eating the correct food to ensure proper growth.

Yes, it should be puppy-specific, as he is too young for the adult variety and needs the nutrients in the puppy food. It would also be best to introduce it gradually if you still have enough of the original kibble left. Just mix a little of the puppy-specific Taste of the Wild in with his normal kibble, then gradually change the ratio of kibble:Taste of the Wild until you have changed over completely, maybe over a week if possible.

TBH I wouldn't worry too much, 40 yrs ago there was no such thing as puppy specific food.

My latest pup never had puppy food, he was bought up on Markus Muhle ,which is a general food for all ages, he grew slow and steady without any sudden spurts and has turned into a very healthy, sound adult that has given me no worries at all.

The only difference between Taste of the wild "adult" and puppy version is kibble size. Taste of the wild is not specific for senior, puppy, adult...it is all life stages food. So you can go to puppy (same taste) if the size of the kibble does not suit your puppy. I use pacific stream puppy just for the size, so I can give more as a treat.
