this may sound a strange thing to ask but when does a pup start to bark or does it vary, I had a lab and he didn't bark until he was around 5 months, one day he just let out a huge woof... my pup is almost 4 months and I am looking forward to hearing him bark :D:doug::clap:

How cute! Some dogs hardly ever bark, some bark a lot from the word go. You can encourage them to bark more (often accidentally :) ) but some dogs are just quiet characters.

Our almost 4 month old doesn't bark either, well apart from the very rare single play bark.

From reading this forum, labs seem to either be mostly silent or very chatty. I got a barkador! But only for play or food. He never alarm barks. Probably because nothing seems to worry him.

My previous lab hardly ever barked. My 4 month pup barks quite a bit. When he wants attention or when we try to eat a meal mostly. It’s not so great.
