As you will know black dogs are not the most easy to see on these dark nights! As I walk mine on the golf course and beach it is great to be able to give them the freedom to run and chase still. I have tried numerous brands of flashing collars (best one I got when I was in the USA) but they aren't always that bright and often the batteries run out quickly or stop working when they get wet. Can anyone recommend a good one? Thanks

This is a firefly LED collar - I thought I would have to use it in addition to his normal collar but it is substantial woven fabric, with a good clip, and easily good enough to use as a collar on its own and that's what I did.

In a pitch black park tonight, I could see him easily, even when he legged it right over the other side to investigate the rubbish left by the hotdog stand after bonfire night. ::)

The only thing I'd say is I wouldn't get it in blue again - it has three settings, constant, rapid flash and slow flash. I had it on rapid flash. When he got back in the car, we looked like a police car! Tempted though I was to leave it on through the Wimbledon rush hour traffic, I resisted. ;D ;D ;D

I don't know how long the batteries will last though...

Charlie looks great...like a space dog! We won't need one this year as he's too little to go about but where did you get it from so I can get one for next winter? Xx

We have a pink one that I am pleased with. Like Julie, I can't say how long the batteries will last, as it's a cheap and cheerful one. But she did jump in the stream with it yesterday, and it's still working! :)

Thanks for your advice Julie - I've just been on to Amazon this morning and ordered a lovely pink and red one for my two monsters. Hopefully now I'll be able to see what they're up to most of the time. Will keep everyone posted once we've tried and tested them.

Got my collards yesterday and couldn't wait to put them on the dogs for our night walk. Coco got the girlie pink one and red one for Rosie. Both are great and visible from a long distance - red slightly brighter than the pink one. I always thought it was Rosie who led Coco astray but more often than not it was the pink collar out in front! I'd certainly recommend these collars, so thanks again for your advice.

We just use ebay cheapies too. Field test of Glow collar below (quite literally. In a field, pouring with rain, pitch black). Reubens eyes seem to glow more than these things, to be fair it has had around 10 hours use so far. Sorry about vid quality.

    Ebay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxEd8xeI9NU&feature=c4-overview&list=UUzj2a0YHZLzk1Ii2sqU_Ttg

Ebay cheapies seem exactly the same as the more expensive amazon equivalents. Only difference with the amazon ones, they have a reflective strip and the button casing looks cheaper. Depends on seller I suppose. 40 Piece battery cards can be bought from most pound shops so we've stocked up on cells.

    Amazon :

I love that video - the pink tongue towards the end too.
I have given up on off lead walks in the dark.

We've been really fortunate to get a dog which is the type to stick hot on owners heels. But we were quite fastidious about recall during training too. Our previous pooch was horrendous. :-\ We were constantly pleading for him to come back, treats and daft little routines ;D. I still miss him to bits, but Reuben's been a model dog in comparison. He really is no trouble at all, gentle little fella too. :)
