My dog Molly just started this medicine. She has an enlarged heart which we think is why she has chronic bronchitis, and can't breathe well.

Does anyone know how long it takes to start working?

    Any other comments are appreciated..

Sorry I can't help, I have no knowledge of that drug. I do hope she responds soon, must be a huge worry.

Please don't hesitate to either go back or phone your vet for advice.

Only just seen this carolamorris. Even more important you check with your vet if you haven't already about antihistamines.
I hope the med kicks in quickly and helps Molly with her breathing.

Enalapril is a heart medicine used in humans to reduce blood pressure. Enalapril (an ACE inhibitor) also relieves the pressure on the heart, so it doesn't have to work so hard to get the blood around the body. The medicine will help with fluid build up around the lungs, probably a contributing factor to your dog's breathing problems, so your dog should feel more comfortable quite quickly. It is difficult to know how quickly you will see symptoms ease, as this depends on the level of heart failure and other co-morbidities. If you are worried at all, best give the vet a call.

I am sorry Molly is unwell, and hope she is more comfortable soon.
