    Hello guys

Do you know the Bravecto for fleas and ticks? Do you give to your dogs? Opinions please. The vet advice me to give to my puppy but I read that could be bad for his health. Opinions?

I was weary of bravecto and declined to use it while my dog was a puppy and I did more research on it. In speaking with our vet again, and weighing the options of being in a high tick area I chose to use bravecto this year. My dog is older (turned 2 in December). All was fine with no effects.

My dogs have a Seresto collars for ticks which last 8 months. Mainly because we go to France a lot and they use to get covered in ticks, but since wearing the collars they have never got any ticks. They wear their collars from March to November, then rest until March again. I also give them advocate which covers them for everything else like lungworm.

We dont use Bravecto (we use Nexgard) but another dog we know gets Bravecto with no adverse effects. Tick protection is very important in here Sydney, as there are lots of ticks here.

I've been using Bravecto with no problems for several years. It is also available as a spot on treatment rather than an oral medication.

I was also wary of Bravecto, but Alfie kept getting ticks and fleas on a previous treatment so I started using it a few weeks ago with no adverse effects at all.

Unless you live in a tick area, I wouldn't use anything at all! I certainly wouldn't touch Bravecto, don't like the idea of a chemical in my dog for 6 months.

There’s a great deal of scaremongering regarding Bravecto that is akin to anti-vacc hysteria. The compound that kills fleas and ticks is completely inert to your dog’s system.

However, I won’t be giving my pup Bravecto again as the day after his 2nd dose he had terrible diarrhoea and it took a week for his stomach to settle.
