Hey all.... So buddy absolutely loves his food (raw) and treats etc, he’s very good driven which is great and has made training really productive. Only thing is he gulps his meals super duper quick!

He is on raw and so I mash it down a bit which adds a few seconds on but it’s still really quick. Question is, is there a big problem with this? And if so, do the slow feed bowls work well? Ideally I would like a stainless steel one due to the raw food, but they mostly just do the donut type, not as good as plastic, but I’m concerned plastic could harbour bacteria? What does everyone think? Thanks

Thanks, he’s been absolutely brilliant, and I don’t mind how quick he eats, his food manners are great, he waits and everything. But I’m sure there are reasons for slowing the feeding down, so I’ll see what everyone says, thanks for the reply

That’s lovely to hear. No I’m sure, my dad’s dog black lab 5 years has always eaten her food very quickly it’s dry food.
She waits too for a command. Dad never taught her she just did it.

Hi both Isla and our last lab gulped their food and we put a kong or two, depending on bowl size, in the bowl with the food, this really slows them down.

    Thought this might help Buddy

If it helps, you can put kongs in the dishwasher so they might be an option.

Some slow feeders can also go in the dishwasher, but they obviously take up a lot of space.

Our Angus attacked his food and wolfed it all down before begging for more! He is still a very fast eater, but I found that a bit of extra water in his kibble did slow him down. I also used a large rock in the center of a shallow cake pan for about a month until he slowed down. Don't know if either of those ideas will work for you with raw food!

Thanks yes definitely, never thought about putting something in there, like a kong or a pebble or something!
