2 year old Lab with possible cancerous tumor?

I have a two years old labrador and I noticed that he suddenly developed overnight a lump on his gum on the upper jawline of his mouth which feels to the touch like a foreign object stuck between the gum. Could this be a cancerous tumor? I'm very concerned, can labradors develop cancer so early? he's only two an it would break my heart if I had to lose him so early. I'm taking him to the vet the next day but until then I really don't know what to do

 

I can understand your worry and I imagine you cannot wait until you can see the vet tomorrow. If it feels as if something is stuck, then that may be the answer, it may be an abscess, try not to jump to the worst conclusion which is unlikely at his age.

So I analized it a little better and I saw that the swelling is on both sides of his cheeks, from what I've read on other threads this could either be due to sinusitis, which is possible since the other day he had a runny nose and a lack of appetite, or due to a blockage of the salivary glands. I calmed down a little bit since the symptoms indicate more of an inflammatory infection than a tumor. Either way, I'm taking him tomorrow to the vet and I'm hoping that it's nothing serious

I'll keep you all updated once I return from the vet

 

So I returned from the vet, he had a look and said that those lumps are lipomas, some fatty tissues which are quite common for dogs and are basically harmless.

 

That's great news, I'm glad to hear it's nothing serious. You must be relieved

 

What a worry for you, fingers crossed it is nothing serious
