Great news. My mom had cataract ops. I’m pretty sure she has one lens for near vision and the other lens for far vision. I wonder if they’d do that for dogs?
Hi again Everyone. The final update I imagine! DeeJay is back to normal, chasing balls etc with his usual fantastic energy and showing no sign of bother with the eye that had the lens replaced. He is still on eye drops and that will continue for some more time. We are so pleased. It is so wonderful to see him back on long walks and retrieving well. if anyone has a similar problem with juvenile cataracts I would reassure them and say Go for the op! Wonderful news - sounds like DeeJay's cataract op was as life changing as the human version of the op.
Hey Sandra, I just took my 1year lab in for her annual shots and vet said she has juvenile cataracts in both eyes. He said they are so small and may never bother her but if they do it will be around 10 years of age or so. He said not to worry about it at all. Of course I’ve been a worry mess since I’ve been home and can’t find much on pups with cataracts online except that most of the time it’s generics. I don’t notice her vision being bad and her eyes don’t look cloudy. I’m going to get a second opinion. I guess right now I don’t have any questions for you. I’m just shocked and sad for my girl.
