Hey all! First post from me :), posting from Ontatio Canada so hopefully some Canadian friends can help me out

I have a 5 month old little lady named Piper :)

When we got her from the breeder she was being fed the TLC brand which I come to find out isn't that great and even though they market different levels like puppy vs adult that it is actually an all stages food. The vet also recommend changing foods because that ones not the greatest.

A recommendation led us to try out Hills science diet large puppy, which I'm finding is not doing well with her. We did a slow transition and noticed her stool change drastically. Soft and super stinky and her farts could now clear a room where as when she was on TLC she NEVER stunk.
We're 3 weeks in and still using both the new food plus the tlc stuff because she's clearly not tolerating it well.

Some research led me to ACANA and I'm looking for some input, or maybe some other suggestions from some lab parents :)

Unfortunately raw is not for us so while I thank you in advance for the suggestion, I'm looking for dry kibble options.

    Thanks all :)

There was a recent lawsuit against Orijen and Acana. Reported cancer development, horrible diarrhea in dogs, who were fed Acana all their life.
The claim was, those 2 foods contain arsenic, mercury, lead, cadmium.

We're in the Usa but we get some Canadian brands here. A lot of good ones.
Orijen is great but expensive. Acana, Go , Horizon, Firstmate are all good too. If I could afford it I'd go with Orijen. I like the ingredients and quality.

    We feed Victor. www.victorpetfood.com
It's awesome food.Privately owned and operated in Texas.
Not sure if it's available in Canada.

I had the same problem, trying to find the best kibble for your puppy can be really difficult, and confusing. When we first got her from the breeder she was on Diamond regular puppy food, had really loose, stinky poo, plus it was crazy high in protein, tried Hills large puppy as well, she wasnt eating it. We now have been switching between NUTRO wholesome essentials large breed puppy, and NUTRO Ultra, large breed puppy. With the wholesome essentials, within
one day her stool went from super soft to firm.. She has not had a loose stool since ( accept the one time she got in the cat litter box) :D her fur got shiny after a few days, and she is crazy for it. I live in Upstate NY though, so not sure if it is available in Canada.

Good question as I too am in Ontario Canada and waiting (not very patiently - such torture o_O) to get our black lab pup early in 2019.
My yellow girl Daisy came from a Breeder who used TLC but Daisy developed allergies so she couldn’t stay on it. In any case we used Wellness simple solutions, then Petcurean Go! and also Acana as well. All suited her fine with no issues. I’m surprised to hear there was a recent lawsuit against Acana though!
The breeder we are with this time feeds Royal Canin so I’m thinking I may try the large breed Lab Puppy formula. I like I can get it at Petsmart. One of The other brands I used previously - Acana was only available at Global Petfood and sometimes they wouldn’t have it in stock. Came close to running out of kibble a couple times!!

I’m also in Ontario and we used Fromm large breed puppy which she did great on and transitioned to Petcurean GO fit and free at around 16 months. She’s been on it a year and a half and her teeth are great, coat shiny and poops small and firm so very happy with it.
