Holly is 7 months old and yesterday evening, someone living nearby, set of a few fireworks. They only lasted for a minute or so, but Holly was visibly trembling. I should mention that she was indoors with us at the time.

She's been fine with hearing gunshots, on the common where we walk her, but the firewoks really bothered her. We're not looking forward to Bonfire night.

I had a Leonberger who was petrified of fireworks. She passed away last October aged 12 so I had 12 years of trying things to keep her comfortable at Halloween and New Years.
I found keeping all windows, blinds and doors, including internal doors shut. We didn’t leave the room for the duration and had music playing loudly, I mean loud!
Also found over-feeding her just carbs that evening made her sleepy so she had a very big meal of boiled rice, all she wanted on that evening, around 7pm.
Also making sure all fireworks has ceased when she went out to the loo before bedtime, was easily 1am at that stage. And no outdoors after 7pm.
We absolutely hated Halloween and New Years because of this.
I got a cd with fireworks and played it to her throughout the years but it didn’t make any difference. I think she knew this wasn’t real.
I’m hoping my 8 month old lab will sleep through it. I had a second Leo who slept through fireworks like they weren’t going on.
It’s a terrible pitiful sight to watch your dog scared out of their minds because of fireworks.

Buster is so scared of them due to 4 years ago before 5th Nov someone let some off where we were walking, since then he hates noises, sometimes he can cope with the odd noise and he is a lot better, but I am dreading it even more this year. I did get some Sileo but I'm undecided whether to give it to him.

My older dog doesn't like the fireworks that whoosh, bangs she's OK with.
I shall draw the curtains, put the TV on and act as normal with some lavender in the background.
The dogs trust have a page dedicated to this. The sound therapy should be started early as it is a very slow process to get a dog to accept the different volumes, so it may be too late but worth starting just now and keeping at it as new year is another time we seem to have them.
