I didn't think my first post on this wonderful forum would be in this section but I lost my gorgeous full of life nine month chocolate girl this weekend. She died in her sleep. The vet thinks is was most likely an undiagnosed/undiagnosable heart problem. She had no symptoms and, thankfully, doesn't appear to have suffered at all. But we are broken hearted. I expect that, in time, we will look for another pup to fill the huge hole she's left behind and I will be back on this forum for support and advice (I will be terrified!). But for now thank you so, so much to everyone who posts here and who saved my sanity on more than one occasion, especially through those first few months.

What a deeply sad experience. So hard to lose any living being that has been such a close part of your life and brought such joy. Maybe the only immediate comfort can come from knowing that she was loved and cared for and that she will have deeply enjoyed that in her own, doggy way. I hope nature treats you more gently in future and especially while you are feeling so raw and shocked.

So very sorry LaM. I know your pain :( We had to say Good bye to two of our doggies this year. Our yellow Lab Toby was with us for 8 years, he got so very sick that we had no other choice than to put him to sleep. Shortly thereafter we decided to get a new Puppy, not to replace Toby, his place will never be filled, but to fill this massive void in our hearts and home. We lost our new puppy Jax to parvo only 2 days after bringing him home. The paperwork, shot records and such we received with him were fake, so he was already sick when we got him. We were devestated. We have our little girl Dakota now, she is wonderful. It was scary at first, and i think I'm way more careful now, and tend to worry a little to much about her at times, but that's ok. Thinking of you! You are not alone! Hugs.

Thank you so much everyone. Sabine74 I'm so sorry you've had such a difficult year. I'm sure it's scary after an experience like that but I bet it's completely worth it! I just need a little time and will then try to summon up the courage (and energy!) to do it all again.
