Hey As my post on the health board Cody had a seizure in the early hours of saturday morning. He also pooed on the kitchen floor in advance of the seizure (we only know this because it was cold). He is fully house trained and only ever pooed indoor when unwell. We monitored his body functions for a few days and he is back to normal. Faeces a bit harder than normal but regular. Then this morning he had done the same again but no seizure this time (thank god). Anyone know what could be causing these early morning indoor poops (he didnt do it sun/mon/ tues/weds). He won't winge or bark to alert us and he sleeps downstairs whilst we sleep up so we wouldnt be disturbed by his moving around enough to realise. He gets walked 3 times a day probably covering about 4 miles throughout the day. Do you think it could just be as a result of an unsettled week. If not how do we resolve this. He isn't being told off for doing this as I genuinely believe they are accidents. I just need to identify why and how to prevent them. I'm over analysing I know this.
How worrying for you. I think if it were me (and given that I’m not the most up-to-date of dog-owners on the Forum!), I would put a phone call through to the vet with the information and see if it’s OK to just stay in monitoring mode, or needing more attention? Best of luck and hope all settles back to happy normality soon.
As well as that, I would maybe also set up a camera to record all night. His behaviour immediately before he poops, will tell you a lot about the cause of it - whether he is anxious, whether he goes to the door first, etc etc.
