Hey alright I've had labs before so I get the shedding thing but this is my first black lab (still not sure if color makes a difference but I've noticed some difference in them). I think we are past the point of "shedding" I'm assuming his winter coat is coming in and maybe I just didn't notice how bare my yellow labs got but we are talking SHEDDING. I can pet him and have a hand full he is 2 almost 3 years old. I wouldn't call them bare spots necessarily but some spots are to the soft under coat. I took him to the vet they said nothing was wrong with him so maybe I'm just wondering for no reason but if anyone has any input I'd gladly appreciate it.

At certain times of year, labs will lose a lot of coat at once. It's best to get a Furminator and, every day during this period, Furminate them outdoors... It will stop once all the coat is out.

    Hi @Alex52

    Welcome to the site.

Don't believe colour matters. I have a black one and she loses little hair. Had a chocolate Lab, and the carpet each day would have 'tumbleweeds' blowing from one end to the other.

Jo is correct. Acquire a shedding rake and brush her coat each and every day.

Our dust bunnies have names. I think we could make a new dog with the fur we pick up each week.
