Hi everyone, I’ve just joined this forum and would like to ask a question please. I’ve got a 7 year old choc lab who will do anything for food but if I put him is food bowl on an outside step instead of just on the floor he will leave 1 or 2 biscuits and just stand there barking at them. He did this when he was a puppy and we didn’t put his bowl on the step anymore - 7 years later, I’ve just discovered he still does it! Any ideas as to why he would do this please? I’m intrigued!

Hmm, it sounds like a strange one. It sounds a bit like an attempt to play with food. You see something of this if you give a dog a really tasty treat or bone, they will often pounce on it and bark at it and play with it, before ever eating it. Or it could be that he thinks it is in a weird place in your house and that it doesn't belong there and looks weird... It's hard to say. If you can post a link to a video of the behaviour, we can take a look.

A very warm welcome to the forum!

I'm intrigued, too! I think a video would be fascinating, if you don't mind taking one and sharing it?
