Hi all, My pup is going on 9 months old. He has been a great sleeper up until 3 nights ago. I usually have him pee and poo about 10:30 pm and he is up barking and ready to eat by 7:00 am. Which has been GREAT! For the past 3 nights he goes into his crate by 10:30 pm then around 1-2 AM he is up barking like a mad dog. I thought he might need to pee so the first night I took him out and not really any pee then put him right back and it starts all over again. The next night I did the same and did not get up this night he started at about 12:30 am and he did not stop until 3AM!!! I have not slept I feel like I have a newborn child. He has never been this way even as a 8 week old pup. Im not sure what is happening but I am on no sleep....Am I missing something??? If anyone has suggestions PLEASE HELP! ZzZzzzzZZz
We had exactly same problem at 7 months we ended up Moving his crate to our bedroom, but it was always our intention not to crate him forever. Now we have to wake him up to go to the toilet a 7am. Lee
My puppy has been a pain in my ass the past day or so as well. Granted, I’ve been at my parents house with him house sitting their dogs, so he’s in a different environment than normal. But still....pain in my ass. Sorry. Just venting. I really don’t get why he would be whining after 9 months of not really doing it. I think puppies just go through bad days like the rest of us...
Something could be disturbing him - a person outside (a neighbour who has changed their working hours coming or going?) or an animal (cat or fox?) I would take him to your bedroom with you (at the start of the night not when he barks). You can always move him back downstairs in a few weeks.
