    Hello!

I've got a pure bread Chocolate Lab Female named Khaleesi. I have been feeding her the Royal Canin Labrador Puppy food. She has already gone though a whole 30 LB bag of this food, but has now gotten diarrhea.

She's 4 months old now and ive been feeding her chicken and rice for about a month and a half. I've taken her to the vet a few times where they have prescribed us antibiotics, steroids and anti nausea (she threw up a few times) medications. After the last concoction of medications her diarrhea has stopped so i introduced (slowly) her kibble back and noticed shes gotten it again. So I can only assume that its her food now.

Today i bought her a small bad of Purina Pro Plan Focus Puppy Food. I plan to try this as it was suggested to me by a friend who is a vet assistant.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? I'm a first time dog owner and have heard that pure bread labs can be sensitive.

Did the Vet do a fecal test to check internal parasites? She could have just
ate something that made her feel icky. It seems unlikely that she would do fine on the RC for a whole month then get sick from it.
Since you already changed to Pro Plan I would stay with it. Just chicken and rice is not healthy either. You could try adding a tsp of plain pumpkin to her meals. I hope your pup feels better soon.

Hi, so sorry to hear your pup is poorly. Just a suggestion we had a lab who was very poorly on and off for a while. We had her stools tested and she had compylabacter. After meds she seemed ok but then feel ill again, we then had her tested for food intolerance or allergy which came back positive for pork beef and dairy. With careful handling and reading all info on packets she went on to be well as happy. Hope this helps
