My Akc American labrador has puppies last week. The father is a gorgeous black English labrador and the mother is a dark yellow American labrador. They are both Akc registered and have great bloodlines. They were together her entire heat cycle and she never got loose or was around another male, however when the puppies were born, 2 of the yellow puppies have a white blaze going down the middle of their face, this is very concerning to me and I’m just wondering how this is possible!?
Hi @mollyandme123 welcome to the forum. Not all yellow Labs have consistent fur colour. It is not unusual, for example, to see darker ears on a yellow Lab. And some yellow Labs may have a white patch somewhere on the coat, commonly on the chest. I can't say I have seen one with a white blaze on the head. That may be due to breeders practising 'selection". I believe the genetics of shades of yellow, and 'inconsistencies' in coat colour is a complicated issue. Perhaps a member with a science background will be able to explain it.
