    Hi there
I'm moving house in 4 weeks time and I'm taking my 5 year old labrador mix with me
He's a nervous dog, takes a while to settle and doesn't like being left alone for long (especially in new environments) Once he's in a routine he's happy to be left as he's pretty lazy and loves spending his days snoozing on the sofa or his bed. Any advice would be great for him coping with the new move. He'll absolutely love the new house and huge garden but with his fear of strangers and lots of moving people/deliveries I worry it'll stress him out.
    Many thanks
    Vicky

Is it possible to take him to visit the new house once a week to have a look around? If he knows the place beforehand it may make the move a bit easier.
If the current owners are agreeable to it maybe take a couple of his toys and play with him in the yard.

Does he go to a good kennel or is there a friend or relative he could stay with during the actual move? Then he would miss some of the commotion.

Going to visit the new yard is a good idea.

Is he kennel trained? Making sure he is safe and won't run away during commotion of moving should be thought about too.

My Mom had skittish cats. They were given a medication to help calm them during the weeks before and after the move. Maybe the vet would have some thoughts on that.

I hope it goes well for you.

We moved yesterday and our boy is very nervous of noise and gets stressed very easy, so I was really concerned. We shipped him of to the in laws before the removal men came and picked him up before it got dark so he could have a good sniff and try to relax, I must say he done really well apart from having a dodgy tummy so I know he is still stressed he has coped really well, my husband slept down stairs with him (I know he's pampered ) ok the snow has helped but at our old house he only ever went in the garden to go to toilet but early morning today he was running around the garden loving the snow, it's been so nice to see.
We will make sure he is not in his own for just over a week so hopefully he will be fine then.
Good luck with your move I hope your boy soon settles and loves his new house.
