Do any of you trim your labs feet hair?

    Hi,

Just wanted to ask a quick question ;)
My Lucius has very hairy feet in between his paw pads, it doesn't really bother him however the hair does absorb a lot of mud and he tracks it all over the house (we did put an absorbent mat down and it still isn't enough) The only reason I think the hair is the cause is my beagle has no hair between his paws and he doesnt bring in any mud at all. I'm bringing Lucius to college where I am doing a dog grooming course and I'm giving him a full groom (bath, deshed, brush, nails, ears and eyes) but I was thinking of trimming the hair between his pads. I'm not overly worried about it as he's pretty laid back with being groomed, but I am worried that it might damage his coat? Does anyone else have their labs feet hair trimmed? His hair is so long it covers some of his pads and gets clogged with mud.

Never did my labs but did trim my English field cocker, Bella.

I just got Mushers Secret paw wax for cracked pads and I thought I read that it also helped prevent snow from making snowballs on their fur, might this work to keep the mud off a bit?

Bella brought more mud than the labs. We ended up having her step in a shallow tub of water and washed her feet when we came in.

I ended up trimming in between his paw pads when I took him to college, since then the mud being brought into the house has subsided a lot. I also feel shedded him and we were surprised as to how much he shed it got everywhere ! :p

Labs shed? Hahahaha! My son bought me a mug that says 'everything tastes better with dog hair in it'.

Good luck to you and your pup.
