Does anyone know of kennels near Winchester that they'd recommend? We plan to check out a few but if anyone has any recommendations we'll definitely give them a look.

We did consider leaving Riley in gundog kennels but I'm not sure if he'll get more or less attention in a standard kennel. They would do some training with him at the gundog kennels if we wanted and we've been to lessons there so I think I know how they'd treat him during training.

The other thing that I was wondering is will he get less exercise because he's an entire male and may have to be exercised alone? Does anyone have any relevant experience or an opinion?

I'm hoping Riley would love it as much as Lady does by the sounds of it !

If I have to leave my dogs in kennels they always go to gundog kennels, purely because I know that they won't be allowed to do anything that I wouldn't allow them to do, or permitted or encouraged in any behaviours I wouldn't approve of!

Most gundog trainers never neuter their dogs so they will be happy to exercise entire males together.

Whether he would get more attention in a conventional boarding kennels I don't know. I guess it depends on the kennels.
    Good luck with finding somewhere.

I use Gundog kennels too. (breeders own!) Also I can see an advantage for Riley, if it's somewhere where he knows people already....

I'm sure you'll find somewhere nice either way, though. :)

I tend to think the same Barbara , its a massive factor that Riley knows the people, he will settle so much better .

Rocket goes back to the breeder we got her from. Though as well as being a breeder she runs a kennel too. Come to think of it she is pretty close to Winchester too, if you're still looking for somewhere PM me and I'll pass on her details if you're interested.
