What is the best thing to wash your lab with? One that won’t break down the oil in its coat.

    Hi @Blishjde
Use a brush. Get a furminator shedding comb. I don't recommend washing.

Shouldn't need a wash, any shampoo WILL strip the oils in the coat. Maybe a spot-wash for the odd poo-rolling incident but no more.

And if you wash the dog's blankets frequently, then presto, most, if not all, of the issue of smells are resolved.

Every time Willow goes for a walk she finds the most smelliest poo and rolls in it.
She had a shower but now I just wash it off I keep a sponge just for her.
We had to buy 2 harnesses so one is clean and ready to use the other is normally wet having been washed and is drying.

Cooper and Tilly get a shower on rare occasions. Probably less than one a year. I use the mildest puppy shampoo I can find and the bottle lasts for years.

I think the best bath is a swim in salt water preferably followed by a fresh water swim. It happens to be easy to do most places on the Oregon Coast, because there are always fresh water creeks running across the beach to the ocean.
