We picked up a wonderful femaie yellow English lab early in January (she was 8 wks). She did relatively well with housebreaking to start with but we began noticing that she was pee-ing frequently and small amounts. Took a urine sample into vet and they suspected it was UTI. The urine sample wasn't definitive.

So after two rounds of antibiotics, she is now 16 weeks old and still having periodic accidents in the house. She is taken out about every 45-60 minutes. We have trained her to ring the bells to go out. Now it feels like this has turned into a game and we are having a hard time determining if our training is backfiring a bit.

Looking for some feedback.....we've never had a lab before and wonder when we really can expect her to be housebroken. Suggestions welcome!

Is she house-trained with poops or is it both.
My 5 month old was diagnosed with juvenile viginitus and was peeing a lot she would go out to pee then come in and do it on the floor.
She is totally house trained now.
She woofs at us to let us know she wants to go out but she does not like to poop in the garden so she will woof to go out then play and eat my plants and not go to poop.
We take her on the grass at the end of the road to poop.
Mine was trained in the day with no accidents but not at night.
They cant hold it for long and even shorter if they have problems in that area, give your puppy more time I am sure she will get there soon.
When you take her out to pee wait a little longer as sometimes they don't fully empty their bladder so then they need to go again soon after.

Our Lab puppy (5th one in 28 years) has taken a little longer than our others to house train. She is 14 weeks old and we have just now gotten to an hour in between pees while awake. During her witching hour ( anywhere from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm she is pretty roudy and during that time she has to go pee every 10 to 20 mins still. I realized it was happening during a certain period of time and that I had to take her out more frequently during that time to avoid accidents. This helped and now she is asking to go out during that time. It is more like 20 mins apart. We have just now gone 4 days with no accidents in the house. Stick with it...it will happen :)

16 weeks is still a tiny baby. I wouldn’t be concerned at all with that.

5/6 months is generally how long it takes them to be fully housetrained.

Ah, yes. From 4:00 - 7 or so is the worst. She will ring the bells, go out and pee (once or twice) and then come in and pee on the floor about 10 minutes later. No punishment. Just frustration.

Yeah. One does get to thinking we are doing something wrong. The reassurance is appreciated.

The main issue is pee-ing. She poops outside with no issues (although stools continue to be soft).

Sounds as if we simple need to continue to be vigilant taking her out regularly.

Hang in there. Even since I wrote my last post, our time from 4 to 7 has gotten better. She is at least asking to go out ever 10 to 15 mins. So with each passing day your pup will get it more and more!!
