I know you're not supposed to bath a puppy often but how do you keep that puppy (and your house!) clean after daily muddy walks without bathing? In the summer I can hose him down in the garden but it's a bit too cold for that right now.
Hi @Andrea0408 Put a towel down on the floor near your day and walk him backwards and forwards. With an almost dry cloth sponge off the remaining mud. Don't use any soap.
Our dogs go in their kennels for a short nap after we wipe paws a little. Bedding is a couple towels that we can throw in washer quickly. When it's really muddy we have a plastic tub that t we fill with water and just have them step in it to clean off the paws. Then in the kennel for a nap or a Kong chew.
Bucket of warm water, soft brush and cloth. Legs, undercarriage and any other obvious muddy bits washed off then a rub down with an old towel. Dogs are then allowed indoors but confined to the kitchen until dry.
I put a towel in her bed she goes to sleep until she is dry any mud just brushes off then wash the towel regular. Willow doesn't get that dirty yet but my spaniels did. Her basket is in the kitchen behind stair gates.
Synthetic chamois cloths are very good at getting dirt off. There are brands like Groomer's Aquasorb aimed at dogs but any chamois does the job just as well. And after using you just rinse, wring it out amd store it in its tube, so no towels to wash.
I use an old towel and just dry them off if they are wet. Then I put a Siccaro robe on the dog for about 20mins, and when it comes off, the dog is perfectly dry inside. The other thing I do if it is raining out is (ahem), I use Ruffwear dog coats. Really. This is not at all for the dog's benefit, unless they are really old and it's literally freezing outside - but because it keeps the dog dry and is much easier when they come back inside. Then I can just rinse the coat in the machine and not have the house smell of wet dog. I like Ruffwear coats as they are practical and well-thought about and not at all froo-froo
