I am the new owner of an almost 10 week old lab boy Hero! He is being trained to be my service dog!

He's also a holy nightmare. But aren't most puppies?

I do have a question. I have two older dogs like I mean OLD dogs. One is 15 and rear end paralyzed and one is 9. I understand he's a pup and wants to play as much as possible which I'm fine with but how do I stop him from launching himself at my old dogs faces? I am terrified he's going to hurt my oldest dog. My younger dog growls at him and he backs off. But my oldest dog just screams. I've tried redirecting him when I seem him about to launch but most of the time he ignores me and continues to do it.

These are some pictures over the past couple of days (I got him Saturday).

Hi there @laggybunny , welcome to the forum! Hero looks like butter wouldn't melt, I hope he lives up to his name! I'm afraid I'm the wrong person to offer advice about his relationship with your older dogs, but I'm sure some of our other posters will have had similar experiences and be able to share what worked for them. You might have more luck catching there attention if you start a new thread with a specific question in the title :) Best of luck, please come back and let us know how Hero gets on with his service dog training!

Hello and welcome to the forum. Get a baby gate so you can separate them in different rooms.

Hi Hero looks gorgeous. I would keep them separated, especially if you can't supervise all the time, especially the oldest one as it's not fair on him to have a boisterous puppy jumping all over him!

Good luck with your new pup

I've slowly implemented a combination of gates and tethering. I think he's starting to get the idea that they don't want to play. But not so much that he avoids other dogs which I am thankful for. I think once my youngest old man dog gets over the shock of him being here in "his house" he will play with him since he eventually plays with literally everyone.
