Help, I need advise on how to keep my chocolate tornado calm after being spayed. Can't keep her in the crate 24/7 for 10 days. She is wearing an e colar. But cannot keep her calm.

I really hope you are not trying to use an electronic-collar to keep her calm. I hope you mean Elizabethan collar.

Take her on lead for short walks in a low-distraction and familiar environment such as the back garden.
Practise calm exercises such as sit and down for duration. Positively reinforce successful repetitions.
    Give her a frozen Kong.
    Teach her to scent.
Hide her kibble around the house.

Electronic!!!!! Anyone using that stuff needs to re evaluate their training methods in my opinion, I have no idea what training it would be used for!! Thanks for the tips but walking is next to impossible due to a real bad winter sidewalks are difficult to navigate. The sit stay and all her training gets her bored real quick. We are trying to relax best we can.

Sorry I am still upset to think that I was referring to an electronic collar. It was very obvious to me that after being spayed e collar would make reference to Elizabeth Collar. Sorry you read between the lines the wrong way or my fault to not have used the complete word.

Please don't get upset. No harm done. Communication is the only thing to suffer.

If looking to keep her busy, then do scent training. I suggest you get a box of tea bags. Cheap to use them as the target odour. Initially reward her for sniffing a box with some tea bags therein. Then graduate to two boxes. One with say a dirty sock in it. The other with some tea bags. Put some holes in the lids so that she uses only her nose. Reward every time she gets it right. Teach a passive sit in front of box with some tea bags.you should end up with six boxes, five of them with non-target odours. Put a T under box with target odour so that you don't inadvertently give the correct box away with your body language. You'll need an assistant to place the box. You have to rely on your dog becsuse you will have no idea where is the tea bags. Ask questions here if not clear. Should keep you two busy for 4 weeks well past post operative care.
