Hi All. I am going to pick up our first Lab in about 2 weeks. Just joined the forum. We are sooooo excited!! I am getting him from a friend who’s female yellow had the litter with a black male. The male is papered but the female is not. The female looks 100% Lab but she is not papered. The puppy is chocolate with a tiny white spot on his chest. Pic of the puppy is my avatar. Does he look purebred and is there testing that can be done to determine? You can see the tiny white spot on his chest between the fingers in the pic. It’s about the size of a dime. Very small. I know it’s impossible to tell from a pic, just though you guys might be able to tell me what you think. Thanks y’all. Looking forward to being party of the community!

Hi Mike! Welcome to the forum :) Congratulations on your new Lab, he looks gorgeous!

As you say, I'm afraid no one here will be able to tell you if your puppy is purebred simply by looking at a photo online. But we have a really interesting article on this subject, including information about DNA ancestry testing for dogs, over on our main site. I hope you enjoy it!

I think your puppy's white patch is cute - celebrate it!
