Willow had a pigs ear yesterday and vomiting most of the night. She has eaten a small amount of food and has drank water and kept this down so far. Reading on the web they can make dogs vomit with sensitive tums. They have gone in the bin. We used to give them to our spaniels and they were fine. Willow loves to chew it's hard to find safe chews for her.
No I haven't will give them a try nex time we are at the butchers. Will the small bones not get stuck in her bowel.
She ate the lot in one go I think it was too much for her. She is fine eating and drinking well and not in any discomfort and playing. Her stomach is not distended and she hasn't got the runs so I dont think it was a blockage. I have a stricture so I know what to look out for.
Pig ears cause digestive issues for both our labs, our 11 yr old and our 1 year old. They both get diarrhea therefore we can't give them to either.
Pigs ears are apparently very fatty so as other have said, they can cause upsets. Any of the dried fish skin treats go down well with Chewie. We haven't found any really long lasting edible chews, so mostly used filled kongs and similar.
I came across Yak chews a very hard cheese has anyone used these. I think the antlers would be too hard and could break teeth. She will get a frozen kong in the evening to keep her ocupied she gets a dentastix once day too.
Yak chews are ok but probably won't last long and are quite expensive. Dogs can also break off hard chunks and eat them. Dentastix are not a good idea, since anything made by Pedigree is a poor quality ingredient. (See the ingredient list!)
