Hello everyone. I have a 5 month old yellow lab who got sick on Science Diet. Shes been on homemade chicken/rice/eggs/veggies for 5 days and we are transitioning new food in tonight. What's your go to brand? I'm not interested in grain free. And for those currently using grain free please read up on DCM. Dogs are dieing as young as 2. Scary stuff. Two vets in my area said absolutely not.
I've been researching food for 4 days. It all has controversial crap in it. So overwhelming. Thank you!

I feed a complete raw and believe that raw food is the most species-appropriate way to feed a puppy. I can't recommend any kibble, but if I didn't feed raw, I would feed Ziwipeak as the next best thing.

I also raw feed, but it's not the easiest so not suited to everyone. I did a lot of research when I considered moving back to kibble and settled on "Millies Wolfheart" but decided to stick to raw myself.

There are so many varying opinions on dog food.

We personally use Royal Canin Labrador Retriever Adult (we used to use the puppy version) and often add bits and pieces (cooked meats/fish veggies, fruit etc.)

We tried to change kibble a couple of times but didn't find anything that suited our girl as well.

We also tried raw meaty bones and raw food with the kibble, but stopped due to the possible cross contamination of germs on raw meat with our young family (plus I'd hoped that regular raw meaty bones would be good for her teeth but it seemed to make no difference in our case).

Basically, I think it's a bit of trial and error to see what suits your dog and your lifestyle. Kibble wise, as long as you stick with a premium brand, you probably can't go too wrong.

I have tried a few brands of kibble and they gave Willow the runs she seems happy now on tinned dpg food.
